Method
- Cook macaroni until al dente, then drain.
- Melt butter, whisk in flour, then gradually whisk in milk until thickened. Stir in cheddar, salt, and pepper.
- Add cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce, stirring until well coated.
- Transfer to a greased dish, sprinkle breadcrumbs, and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20 minutes.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use a blend of cheddar and Gruyere cheese.
