Ingredients
  

Mac and Cheese
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni uncooked
  • 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
Topping
  • 1 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Black pepper

Method
 

  1. Cook macaroni until al dente, then drain.
  2. Melt butter, whisk in flour, then gradually whisk in milk until thickened. Stir in cheddar, salt, and pepper.
  3. Add cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce, stirring until well coated.
  4. Transfer to a greased dish, sprinkle breadcrumbs, and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20 minutes.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use a blend of cheddar and Gruyere cheese.
