Method
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
- Boil macaroni for 8-9 minutes, then strain.
- Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add flour, white pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper to butter, whisk until smooth.
- Stir in milk gradually until incorporated.
- Add medium cheddar and half of the extra sharp cheddar, stir until melted. Stir in macaroni.
- Pour into a baking dish. Top with remaining extra sharp cheddar.
- Bake at 375 F for 30 minutes.
Notes
For an extra crispy top, broil for the last few minutes of baking.
