  • 0.5 cup butter at room temperature
  • 0.5 cup Powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup cake flour OR all-purpose flour See note 1

Method
 

  1. Soften butter before baking.
  2. Cream butter, sugar, and vanilla for 5-8 minutes until light and fluffy.
  3. Sift and fold flour into the creamed mixture in 3 additions.
  4. Transfer dough to plastic wrap, form a log, and place in a piping bag with a flower tip.
  5. Pipe dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. If dough is too stiff, add 1 tbsp of warm milk.
  7. Refrigerate the piped cookies for 30 minutes.
  8. Sprinkle with sugar if desired.
  9. Bake at 300°F/ 150°C (148°C fan) for 15 minutes until golden.
  10. Cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For best results, use a kitchen scale to measure ingredients accurately.
