- Soften butter before baking.
- Cream butter, sugar, and vanilla for 5-8 minutes until light and fluffy.
- Sift and fold flour into the creamed mixture in 3 additions.
- Transfer dough to plastic wrap, form a log, and place in a piping bag with a flower tip.
- Pipe dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- If dough is too stiff, add 1 tbsp of warm milk.
- Refrigerate the piped cookies for 30 minutes.
- Sprinkle with sugar if desired.
- Bake at 300°F/ 150°C (148°C fan) for 15 minutes until golden.
- Cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes before serving.
